Oliva Cigar Co. is producing its cigar boxes with Forest Stewardship Council certified wood, becoming the first cigar company to earn FSC chain of custody certification. The claim reflects changes in procurement, employee training, and daily tracking to maintain certification. The effort is part of a broader strategy that includes reforestation, seed innovation, soil management, and composting on company farms to encourage responsible production and environmental stewardship across operations.
“This certification is not only about materials — it’s about a philosophy,” Cory Bappert, CEO of Oliva Cigar Co., said in a press release. “It ensures that all of the wood used in our boxes comes from responsible sources that support reforestation, biodiversity, workplace safety, and fair labor standards.”
