The Alfonso Añejos cigar line has started shipping to select retailers across the country. Created by Nelson Alfonso of Selected Tobacco, the Alfonso Añejos shares a portfolio with the Atabey, Byron and Bandolero brands.
The Alfonso Añejo comes with an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper over Ecuadorian Connecticut binder and Peruviand and Nicaraguan filler. Sizes are the 4 x 50 #1 ($29.99), 5 x 52 #2 ($34.99), 6 x 54 #3 ($39.99), 6.75 x 56 #4 ($44.99), 7.5 x 58 #5 ($49.99) and 9 x 50 #6 ($49.99). The 2022 release is packed in boxes of 25 cigars and each vitola will come in a dress box and a secondary box for the inaugural release.
The Selected Tobacco lines are placed into cedar lined rooms after they are rolled, then humidity is raised and lowered to allow the cigars to clean themselves with the cedar notes for between two to five years.
The Alfonso Añejos line ages in a separate room using French Oak, as used by some of the most famous wines in the world.
“The depth of flavor on the Alfonso is incredible,” Director of Operations for United Cigars, Oliver Nivaud said in a press release. “A symphony of notes that left me feeling like Andy Dufresne in Shawshank Redemption listening to Mozart’s Le Nozze Di Figaro.”
