District Judge Mónica Ramírez Almadani denied the premium cigar industry’s emergency request to delay California’s Unflavored Tobacco List (UTL) Oct. 9 application deadline. The judge’s decision did not address the larger legal challenge CRA and its co-plaintiffs filed on Oct. 3. As a result, cigar makers wishing to have products included on the state’s UTL must file their applications by today to guarantee review before the first list is published on Dec. 31.
