J.C. Newman Cigar Co. announces the Tampa Smokers cigar, celebrating Tampa Bay’s minor league baseball team that played from 1919 to 1954. The 6 x 54 Toro ($20) features an Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper with a Dominican binder and filler from Nicaragua.
The Smokers were a classic local baseball team that featured future Hall of Famer Al Lopez.
“The Tampa Smokers packaging incorporates the original design of the Tampa Smokers jersey, which prominently featured a Tampa cigar,” fourth-generation owner Drew Newman said in a press release. “These special cigars are packed in boxes with rounded corners that are reminiscent of the shape of a baseball.”
J.C. Newman plans to ship Tampa Smokers to retailers in time for the World Series this fall.
