Foundation Cigar Company‘s Metapa line now goes by Aksum.
The blend remains unchanged but the packaging is fresh as well, as the image on the box and band of Aksum is that of Haile Selassie’s father, Ras Makonnen, who was once governor of Aksum, a kingdom in East Africa and South Arabia. Makonnen is regarded as one of the great leaders of Abyssinia and a confidant to Emperor Menelik II.
The cigars feature a Sumatra Ecuadorian wrapper, Connecticut Broadleaf binder, and Nicaraguan filler.
Aksum stays with the four sizes of its predecessor:
- 5.5 x 48 Corona Gorda ($14.50)
- 5 x 50 Robusto ($15.50)
- 6 x 52 Toro ($16.50)
- 7 x 54 Double Corona ($18)
The cigars come soft-pressed in 10-count boxes.
The cigars will be available for shipping later this week to cigar shops and the line will be showcased at the upcoming PCA trade show in Las Vegas.
