Crowned Heads is releasing the Las Calaveras EL 2023, its tenth installment to the Las Calaveras series, which was introduced in 2014. Las Calaveras EL 2023 includes the 5 x 50 LC50, 6 x 52 LC52 and the 5 ⅝ x 54 LC54. Price range is $12.95 to $14.95 per cigar.
A total of 1,500 boxes of each of the three vitolas was produced with an additional 3,000 four-cigar samplers featuring one of each vitola along with a sampler exclusive Belicoso Fino (5 1/2” x 52). The sampler retails for $54.95.
Las Calaveras EL 2023 is manufactured at My Father Cigars in Esteli, Nicaragua, and will begin shipping in June.
For the first time since 2016, the 2023 Las Calaveras will feature a Grade A Dark Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper.
“We’re bringing the Broadleaf back for ’23,” Crowned Heads co-founder Jon Huber said in a press release. “I’ve held My Father Cigars and the Garcia family in such high regard, especially when it came to their use of Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper and the resultant blend expressions. “
Introduced in 2014, Las Calaveras began as a tribute to those who have passed on in the previous year, and is intended to be a celebration of life and remembrance. Each year, the Las Calaveras band is adorned with the initials of four individuals who’ve passed the prior year, one set of initials embossed upon each of the four coins on the sides of each band. Cigars are presented in 24-count boxes, three rows of eight cigars each, as the number ‘8’ is a symbol of infinity as in everlasting life, while the three rows represent the beginning, middle, and end of the cycle of life.
