Alfonso Gran Selección will be released at PCA 2023, which takes place July 7-11 in Las Vegas.
The Alfonso Gran Selección is the sequel to the Alfonso Añejo that debuted at last year’s PCA show. Alfonso Gran Selección features an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper cloaked over Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers. The Alfonso Gran Selección will be available in five sizes; Exclusivos, a 6 x 54 Torpedo, the 7.5 x 40 Preciosos, the 5.5 x 54 Estelares, the 6.5 x 60 Enormes, and the 8 x 50 Grandiosos. It is produced at Tabacos de Costa Rica.
The Alfonso Gran Selección will be available in dark lacquered 25-count dress boxes, limited to 5000 cigars per size.
Alfonso Gran Selección will be available to order at PCA 2023 by Preferred United Cigar Retailers, and is expected to ship in the fall.
Alfonso Gran Selección takes five years to produce and its final aging is done in rooms lined with French oak. The use of French Oak in the aging process was also used for the Alfonso Añejo and Byron 1850 lines.
“Our experimentation with French Oak aging has led to amazing cigars, ” Nelson Alfonso, owner of Selected Tobacco, said in a press release. “The Alfonso Gran Selección is the next great example of our dedication to patience and exploration.”
