One hundred and eighty years after the establishment of one of the oldest cigar brands in the world, H. Upmann is bringing to life the H. Upmann 1844 Special Edition Barbier, a cigar that pays homage to the craftsmanship and a favorite pastime of the brand’s founding brothers.
The cigar makes its debut at TPE in Las Vegas this week.
The H. Upmann 1844 Special Edition Barbier comes in five sizes: the 6 x 54 Toro ($9.62), the 5 x 50 Robusto ($8.47), the 6 ⅛ x 52 Belicoso ($9.50), the 7 x 50 Churchill ($9.75) and the 5 x 44 Corona ($7.25).
The 1844 Special Edition Barbier (German for “Barber”) uses a combination of two Ecuadorian wrappers – Connecticut and Sumatra – with a Java binder and a blend of Nicaraguan, Dominican and Broadleaf fillers.
“The use of these contrasting shades of wrappers makes for an eye-catching, barber-pole-like presentation,” Pedro Ventura, Operation and Product Development Manager of Tabacalera de Garcia in La Romana, Dominican Republic, said in a press release.
