The Nicaraguan Chamber of Tobacco has cancelled its international Puro Sabor festival that was scheduled for January. It is the second consecutive year the chamber has elected to cancel the event.
Claudio Sgroi, president of the Nicaraguan Chamber of Tobacco, said in a statement that the cancellation was a “responsible decision and taken in consensus” by all members that make up the Chamber.
Despite the pandemic, the premium tobacco industry, including that of Nicaragaua, is on solid ground, as the industry is seeing a vibrant demand for its products.
The premium tobacco industry in Nicaragua employs more than 40,000 people, according to the chamber.
