Plasencia Cigars has partnered with security tech company Legacy Secure to install encrypted security chips in the bands and box of the Alma Fuerte Sixto l Hexagon Colorado Claro cigar. The technology allows users to tap their phone against the chip to access information and photos of the cigar, including the blend and testing notes. Users can also rate cigars through the tech. No application is needed to use the chip.
“Our collaboration with LegacySecure to bring forth this unique technology is another step in our constant evolution,” Plasencia Cigars CEO Nestor Andres Plasencia said in a statement. “We look forward to sharing our unique tobacco history with the public while giving them another platform to communicate with us.”
The Alma Fuerte Sixto l Hexagon Colorado Claro with the LegacySecure smart chip will begin shipping in June.
