Macanudo Inspirado is partnering with lifestyle platform Barstool Sports in its presentation of the Barstool Classic Golf Tournament which began Monday (March 29) at the Innisbrook Island Course in Palm Harbor, Florida, and runs through September. The event includes 20 stops with 26 events in 19 states, plus a four-day championship in November at Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina. In its third year, all tournaments are sold out.
Macanudo will be the official cigar of the classic and will have a branded mobile humidor onsite at each tournament. Laurel Tilley, Macanudo’s brand ambassador, will attend most tournaments, where she will share cigar smoking tips.
Macanudo’s sponsorship of the Barstool Classic will also be part of retail events to be held at select cigar shops across the U.S., featuring putting contests and giveaways of Macanudo Inspirado and Barstool Sports swag.
Macanudo is running the Macanudo Inspirado Barstool Sports Online Giveaway, which offers a monthly drawing. In September, two grand prize winners will each receive the Macanudo Inspirado Barstool Sports Limited Edition Golf set consisting of TaylorMade golf clubs as well as a co-branded golf bag and head covers featuring the Macanudo and Barstool Sports logos. The giveaway can be entered at Macanudo.com/barstool.
Macanudo Inspirado content will also be prominent in Barstool Sports social feeds and vice versa throughout the tournament with Instagram stories, tweets and YouTube videos.
“Our partnership with [Barstool Sports] is a game changer within the premium cigar category because it provides us with ability to connect with the next generation of cigar aficionados unlike any other handmade cigar brand has done before,” Steve Abbot, senior brand manager of Macanudo, said in a statement.
Macanudo has had a long-standing association with the sport of golf. Over the years, it has sponsored programming on the Golf Channel and has provided sampled cigars to smokers of legal age at select PGA events for the past two decades.
