Drew Estate Announces Bronxilla

Followers don’t expect tradition from Drew Estate‘s ACID brand, and won’t be disappointed with the latest release, the ACID 20 Bronxilla, a 5 x 54 robusto.

The Bronxilla uses an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper over an Indonesian binder and fillers from Nicaragua, same as the original ACID 20. Each Bronxilla is packaged in chrome foil and packed in a 20-count box adorned with the ACID 20 logo. A box goes for $192.

“ACID 20: Bronxilla is a monumental achievement for Drew Estate, a celebration of freedom,” Jonathan Drew, founder and president of Drew Estate, said in a press release. “The Bronxilla mark is a symbol of our core values and commitment to the premium cigar industry, which we love so deeply.  From Mecca to Medinah, Texas to Tokyo, FDR Drive str8 ballin to the boogie-down Bronx, jump on the 2’s or 5’s subway lines with us, puffin hard, finger in the air, screamin ‘fuck the world.’ ”

The ACID cigar line has for 20 years rankled some traditionalists for several reasons – number one for “infusing” its products, and number two by naming its cigars decidedly non traditional names including Juggernaut, Remi, and Cold Infusion Tea.

Cigar Snob in December wrote in a profile of the brand, “ACID 20’s dark, toothy Mexican San Andrés wrapper is at the heart of that message. Yes, you pick up the infusion –an herbal, floral, sweet layer that sits beside the cigar. But you also can’t help noticing as you smoke ACID 20 that, under the elements that the infusion adds to the experience, there’s a cigar that’s rich and flavorful enough to stand up to plenty of traditional smokes on its own.”
