In a press release, Davidoff announced the third limited edition release under its Improvisation Series. The new AVO 90th Classic Covers Volume 3 commemorates Avo Uvezian’s 90th birthday.
The blend consists of tobaccos used in AVO XO “covered” by tobaccos from Ecuador (wrapper) and Mexico (binder). In all, the 6 x 54 Toro contains six tobaccos from three countries, with fillers aged for between 10 and 11 years.
According to the press release, “The unique packaging resembles Avo’s personal vinyl record player, concealing two rows of 9 limited edition cigars, which are covered with a detachable vinyl record lid. Once the cigars have been removed, the box remains as a functional ashtray for each collector to use and display—a personal gift from Avo.”
Production of this cigar will be limited to 3,500 boxes of 18, which begin shipping to US retailers on March 22, 2016. Shipment to European retailers will follow soon after. The cigars will retail for $16.90 per cigar (or $304.20 per box).
