VegaFina Marks its U.S. Debut with the VF 1998

The VegaFina VF 1998 arrives in September to salute the brand’s debut year in the U.S..

“In a way, we have been working on this cigar for over 20 years,” Pedro Ventura, a member of the Grupo De Maestro for Tabacalera USA, said in a statement. In creating the VF 1998, “we have taken our learnings from various blends to develop a cigar with just the right characteristics,” he said.

The handmade VF 1998 uses tobacco from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Colombia, Indonesia and Ecuador.

The VF 1998 comes in three sizes; the VF 50 (4 1/2 inches by 50) VF 52 ( 5 by 52) and VF 54 (6 by 54). Cigars come in ten-count boxes with an MSRP of $8.60 to $9.60.

The VegaFina cigar brand is among the top sellers in Europe, considered a good deal for its high quality and low price point. It launched in the U.S. in 1998, but was discontinued a year later due to ownership changes. Meanwhile, the cigar remained in demand domestically. It was brought back in 2007 and has remained a favorite among those seeking a premium medium-bodied smoke.
