Room101 to release final Master Collection in February

LOS ANGELES, CA – JANUARY 15, 2015 – Room101, the Los Angeles based luxury lifestyle brand owned by Matt Booth, has announced the final chapter of its super-premium Master Collection Series, the new Master Collection Three. The first edition, Room101 Master Collection One, which debuted in late 2013, was awarded back-to-back 90-point ratings by Cigar Aficionado Magazine.

The new Master Collection Three will begin shipping nationwide on Monday, February 9th and is set to retail from $8.00 to $12.00 per cigar. This edition will be available in five formats: Papi Chulo (42 x 4), Roxxo (48 x 4), Mutante (38 x 7), Sucio (48 x 7) and Monstro (60 x 5). Only 500 boxes of each Mutante, Sucio and Papi Chulo will be produced, while the Roxxo and Monstro will have 1,500 boxes per format.

All Master Collection editions carry a distinct Sakura mark, which symbolizes the “short, yet beautiful life” of Japanese Cherry Blossoms. The new Master Collection Three is packaged in white, piano finish boxes and contain either 20 or 50 cigars depending on the format.

The blend is comprised of tobaccos from three different countries; a Habano wrapper from Ecuador, binder from the Dominican Republic and filler tobacco from two growing regions in Nicaragua.

“I was never short on inspiration for this blend, but it was challenging. The one thought I kept having was, what does ‘the end’ taste like? After about 7 months of going back and forth, I found what I felt was the perfect taste to close out what has become my favorite collection to date. The cigar is medium intensity and very balanced. As with all Master Collection blends, the experience is designed for those with a more refined palate. The depth of flavor Master Collection Three offers is nothing short of amazing,” said Matt Booth.

Caldwell Cigar Co. announces “Nothing You Ever Heard Of” cigar limited to 49 retailers

4 Months+1Week prior to 18 May 1868 / The Honeycomb Hideout Caldwell Cigar Company has announced the debut of their first limited edition to mark their one year anniversary. The project has been in the works since the early fall and they are in their final stages. The cigars were made in December but will need to hibernate through the winter. They are set to ship in May. The name of the brand has not yet been disclosed, but for the time being the company is referring to the brand as ‘Nothing You Ever Heard Of’.

It will debut in a very small run of 500 10 count boxes. They will be made available to a very select group of retailers. Caldwell has said that that group is not to exceed 49 merchants nationwide. “We are initiating a group called the First 49”, Caldwell says. “This select group will consist of the first 49 retailers that supported and continue to support this venture. We are releasing this product only to them. As we continue to release products in the coming years, these retailers will have first dibs on these releases”. Due to the tiny production of this limited release, all of the First 49ers may not even have a crack at it. We are limiting stores to 10 boxes each. The exception will be the launch partners, who will have access to 30 boxes a piece for the launch events”, states Caldwell.

The first run will be made only in the belicoso format. The plan is to release the cigar twice a year, each time in a different format. They will be made at Tabacalera William Ventura, in Tamboril, DR. Caldwell touts that these cigars are completely unique to anything he has smoked before. They will be full bodied, yet very refined. “They are going to be the fullest bodied cigar in the Caldwell Collection, yet palatable for most smokers.”

There is a limited amount of information being made available for the time being, but here is a vague breakdown: The first run will feature 500 10 count boxes. They are being made using a hybrid Connecticut Arapiraca Natural Maduro wrapper. The other blend information is being excluded for the time being.

Caldwell will be releasing a list of retailers who will be carrying the cigar in the coming weeks.


Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve on the way from Drew Estate


Drew Estate announced an exclusive manufacturing agreement with Pappy & Company. Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve will be produced at Drew Estate’s Estelí factory. Blended with tobaccos selected by Jonathan Drew, the medium-plus-strength cigar will feature an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper and Nicaraguan fillers. It is the perfect choice for pairing with any of the Van Winkle bourbon and rye products.
