Hoyo to start hitting retailers in April

Hoyo is a new collection of Hoyo de Monterrey cigars that General Cigar announced would start to ship on April 1. Packaged in 20-count boxes and priced from $5.49 to $6.99 per cigar, the blend comprises tobaccos from four countries; it features a Nicaraguan wrapper (shade-grown Habano), Ecuadorian binder and fillers from Pennsylvania and Nicaragua. Hoyo will be manufactured at General’s Honduran factory.

The new cigar will be available in four vitolas: Gigante (6 x 60), Toro (6 x 50), Robusto (5 x 54), and Rothschild (4 ½ x 50).

“We’re taking the legendary brand Hoyo de Monterrey and moving it into the future.  The new Hoyo is about keeping the brand’s rich history of Honduran craftsmanship and infusing it with new ideas, new tobacco and new packaging,” said Alan Willner, vice president of marketing, in a press release.
